Juvéderm NYC

Long-Lasting, Non-Surgical Solutions

Smiling womanWelcome to New York Minimally Invasive Surgery — and welcome to Juvéderm New York City!

Juvéderm treatments derive their power from a modified form of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA). The procedure adds volume to the patient’s skin via dermatological fillers.

Technically, the process involves gram-positive bacterial proteins; these are remnants of protein from the bacteria that produce the HA.

It has quickly become one of the more popular options for patients concerned about facial wrinkles, skin folds, smile lines, and even acne scars and dark circles beneath the eyes. In fact, more than 9 out of 10 filler patients elect to receive an HA dermal filler.

Juvéderm injectable treatment options include long-lasting, non-surgical, FDA-approved, procedures. These include branded solutions, such as Juvéderm Voluma XC, Juvéderm Vollure, Juvéderm Ultra, and Juvéderm Volbella, designed specifically for lip augmentation and correction of perioral lines (“lipstick lines”).

The treatment areas of the face can include anywhere wrinkle lines form, including nasolabial folds (nose and mouth; specifically from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth) and the so-called marionette lines, which run vertically from the mouth to the chin.

In short, Juvéderm is an injectable gel that treats facial wrinkles and folds while adding volume to the skin.

And for Juvéderm treatment in New York City, Dr. Marina Kurian and her staff at New York Minimally Invasive Surgery have you covered. Results don’t take long to show up, and the effect can last anywhere from six months to 12 months.

New York City: Juvéderm Treatment and Consultation

Juvéderm procedures in NYC and in other clinics throughout the United States will add volume to problem areas of the face without surgery. The process also temporarily restores volume loss beneath the surface of the skin. This includes lips and lines on the cheeks and skin.

As with all procedures of this type, there are some precautions and warnings that we must think about. When you meet with us, we will go over all aspects of the procedure, including side effects.

We’ll also need to know things like whether or not you plan to be pregnant or if you’ve had a history of allergies or allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). We’ll discuss whether or not you’re allergic to lidocaine, HA fillers, or the proteins used in Juvéderm products.

There are additional things we’ll look for, such as “skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infections … as this may delay healing or make skin problems worse.”

Long story short: We’ll make sure you have all the information you need — and we have all the information we need — to make the best decision for you.

But keep in mind: Side effects are rare, and those that do occur are easily remedied.

Side Effects of Juvéderm

According to Juvéderm, “the most commonly reported side effects with Juvéderm injectable gels were redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, discoloration, and itching. For Juvéderm Volbella, dryness was also reported.”

They continue: “These side effects are consistent with other facial injection procedures and most will resolve with time. Your doctor may choose to treat side effects persisting over 30 days with antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase (an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid). As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.”

After the procedure, Juvéderm advises patients to “minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment, as these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site.”

We all lose firmness and elasticity and collect wrinkles as we age. For the vast majority of us, this is the inevitable result of the natural aging process. Fortunately, there are safe and effective ways to eliminate these often unwanted signs of aging.

During your short procedure, Dr. Kurian will inject a gel into the facial tissue of the cheek, lips, undereye hollows, or around the mouth (the perioral area). The process corrects age-related volume loss and can also augment the chin in order to improve one’s profile if one desires.

Juvederm should also correct and improve facial wrinkles and folds, including those nasolabial folds we mentioned above.

For lip injections, the process is intended to provide lip augmentation.

Finally, this cosmetic procedure can improve the patient’s appearance beneath the eyes (the undereye hollows).
