About Dr. Marina Kurian, MD

Dr. Marina Kurian has over two decades of experience in general, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery. She helped pioneer techniques to make minimally invasive obesity surgery safe & effective. She was the first surgeon in the nation to train with the Orbera® gastric balloon and also offers the Obalon balloon system. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy Surgeons, and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Kurian attended Albany Medical College and completed her laparoscopic surgery fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine in general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Kurian became a certified clinical professor of surgery in 2021.
